1. Beat the egg and add all the dry ingredients. Slice the onion into thick slices.

2. Coat the onion slices in the batter, and drop one by one, a few at a time, into the fryer.

3. Fry at 190°C (374 °F), 2 to 3 minutes, or until slightly golden brown.
